Under more normal conditions, this article would begin by citing the concepts of bettering oneself and/or getting a raise. Today, the ideas still apply, but given the economy’s wretched condition, there’s also the matter of just keeping a job. A new ASP.NET exam from Microsoft will hopefully help in all these areas.
Think of this exam (called “Pro: Designing and Developing ASP.NET Applications Using the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5″) as a way of demonstrating your skills in a public fashion. Do well, and you’ll basically get a stamp of approval from what may be the world’s most well-known software company.
The exam should go live sometime in December, so if you want, you can wait until then, brushing up on different procedures. Or you can attempt to take a beta exam.
The beta exam period runs through December 1st, and a post on the TechNet Blogs states, “If you pass the beta exam, the exam credit will be added to your transcript and you will not need to take the exam in its released form.” You can try to register by contacting Prometric at 1-800-755-3926, and the promotional code RSC43 is supposed to count for something.
Good luck if you follow through with this. At the very least, doing so won’t empty your pockets because the beta exam is free.
